How many earring slats should I get? How big a frame should I buy?

I get asked these questions all the time and they are super valid questions.

The best way to "guestimate" this is to lay your earring collection out on a table. Maybe cut slips of paper to represent the slats, then place the earrings on the table where you think you'd like to hang them on an earring holder. This helps you see how closely you can hang your earrings.

Please note:  you are not going to use every slot on every slat.  You will skip slots just because earrings can be wide from left to right so it wouldn’t be possible to use every slot.  But my earring slats are designed to have so many slots on them you can skip slots, and when you are hanging your earrings and need a slot it’s right there waiting for you.

Also – tip – if you have earrings that are wide (left to right) but shallow (front to back) and on wires you can hang both in one slot and double stack them.  They don’t have to take up so much room, just double hang them both in one slot.

It would probably be best to hang all your long dangle earrings together by length, probably towards the bottom of the frame.  Your longest earrings can hang over the bottom edge of the frame if needed.

You might want to put all your studs on the top few rows.  Maybe use hoop hook slats at the top so you can put studs in slats and hoops in hoop hooks on the same slat.

Or sort everything by color …. Whatever would be best for you is what is important.

Hopefully laying everything out will help you visualize and estimate.  It's not an exact science but you should be able to do a pretty good estimate that way.
And keep in mind if you love earrings you'll always be adding to your collection!
