Easiest way to paint earring holder slats ....

The iOrganize® slats come in 9 different colors/stains plus unfinished.  But if you want a color that I don't offer you can paint or stain them yourself.

If you want the paint to be down in the slots for a professional finished look then the best way to achieve that is to dip them in paint/stain.  Use a ziploc type bag, pour the stain in the bag, put a slat in and shake/roll it all around to get the stain all over the slat and down in the teeth.  Do this quickly as you don't want to "saturate" the wood.  Then "squeegee" the slat as you pull it out of the ziploc.  Use a rag to wipe off the excess paint.  "Tap" the slat on a countertop to knock all the extra paint out of the slots.  Keep tapping and wiping until you have all the excess paint off the slat, then set them so they are leaning on something and both sides will dry.

If the color is not saturated enough on the surface you can always us a mini paint roller with a bare minimum of paint on it and gently roll paint on the surface to make it a thicker, more vibrant color.  Again, if you get too much paint in the teeth then tap and wipe until you get all the extra paint off.

Note:  If you don't mind if the inside of the teeth are unfinished and only the surface is painted you can skip the "dip in ziploc" part and just use a roller.

Tip:  You can always buy slats that are almost the same color as your frame or what you want and then use a mini-roller to paint the surface to be exactly the color you want or to exactly match your frame.  Having the paint color down in the teeth that is just a little bit different is not something that will be noticeable.

What kind of paint or stain?  Stain - Any stain will work on the unfinished slats.  Paint - You can use acrylic or hobby paint on the slats.  Just make sure you buy enough that you can pour the paint or stain into a ziploc and get good coverage on the whole slat.

What if my slats are bigger than ziplocs?  You can use Jumbo size (Hefty Brand) ziploc type bags for slats up to 18" long.  For 20" slats you'll need to do one end at a time.
